Parisian icons followed by dramatic mountain peaks, hiking, and fresh Alpine air.
Trip Snapshot
This 10 day trip combines city energy with mountain peace and works best from June to early October when the Alps trails stay open and the weather feels comfortable for hiking. Budget level sits at mid to upper mid-range $ because mountain hotels and activities cost a bit more. Great choice for couples, solo travelers who love nature, or active families who want both culture and fresh air.
Day-by-Day Plan
Day 1. Land in Paris and head to your hotel to rest after the flight. In the afternoon take a gentle walk around the Eiffel Tower and enjoy the classic view. Grab a simple sandwich or crepe for lunch nearby.
Day 2. Start early with the Louvre museum focusing on the main highlights. Walk along the Seine river afterwards and relax at a small cafe. Book your Eiffel Tower summit tickets ahead if you want to go up.
Day 3. Spend the morning at Notre Dame and the Latin Quarter. In the afternoon explore Montmartre with its artists square and the Sacre Coeur basilica for beautiful city views.
Day 4. Take the high-speed train from Paris to Chamonix, the journey takes around five and half hours with one easy change. When you arrive settle into your hotel and breathe that clean mountain air for the first time.
Day 5. Begin your Alpine adventure with a cable car ride up to Aiguille du Midi for incredible views of Mont Blanc. Take it slow if you feel the altitude and enjoy the panorama from the top.
Day 6. Dedicate the day to hiking. Choose an easier trail like the one around Lac Blanc or a gentle path near the valley. Pack water and snacks because mountain restaurants stay limited.
Day 7. Take another cable car or train to explore different viewpoints. Visit the Mer de Glace glacier if it interests you or simply walk through the pretty villages around Chamonix.
Day 8. Free day for more hiking or relaxing in town. You can rent bikes or just sit at a terrace with a coffee and watch the mountains.
Day 9. Take the train back toward Paris or directly to the airport depending on your flight time. Use the morning for one last short walk in the Alps before leaving the fresh air behind.
Day 10. Final morning in Paris if your schedule allows or head straight to the airport for departure.
Must-see & Nice-to-have
Must-see attractions include the Eiffel Tower and Louvre in Paris plus the Aiguille du Midi viewpoint and basic hikes around Mont Blanc in Chamonix. These give you the perfect mix of city icons and dramatic mountain beauty.
Nice-to-have if time allows cover Notre Dame area, Sacre Coeur at sunset, Lac Blanc hike, Mer de Glace glacier visit, and relaxed village walks in the valley.
Where to Stay
In Paris choose the area near the Eiffel Tower or Latin Quarter, both safe, central, and easy to reach by metro. In Chamonix stay close to the town center or near the main cable car stations so you can walk to most activities. Look for cozy mountain-style hotels or simple apartments with good views.
How to Get Around
Inside Paris use the metro and walk a lot. The high-speed train from Paris to Chamonix runs smooth with one change and takes about five to six hours total. In Chamonix the local buses and cable cars handle most mountain transport so you dont need a car. Walking works great in the small town center.
Comfort Tips
Remember to bring the correct power adapter for French sockets or your devices might stay uncharged. Credit cards work fine in both Paris and Chamonix but keep some cash for mountain cafes and small shops. Food portions in France tend to be smaller than back home so dont hesitate to order a dessert or extra bread. People usually talk quieter in public and many shops close on Sunday, especially in smaller mountain towns. Hotels strictly keep quiet hours after 10 pm so plan your evenings accordingly. These little things make the whole trip feel much smoother and more enjoyable. You can read even more tips on our Comfort Tips page.
